So... dropping those at this time was indeed an error. However, the items themselves and where they drop and the stats, barring specific potential issues, is as intended. They just weren't meant to drop right now. So I don't anticipate any nerfage or change (again, barring errors) to those items.

Loot away. SMILEY:)

To be clear, at least as clear as I can be at this time, we may have to re-evaluate specific items (like the ones mentioned) and may need to change them. But the items will remain in game and we did intend to drop them eventually.

As to when or why or anything else, I must plead no comment.

Right now I don't have a clue how this will turn out. Likely, a fair amount of stuff will be changed. So don't go seeking these items expecting the really great ones to remain as they are. I'll try to get an update on this before the weekend and let you know more if I can.

They *appear* to drop off of any mob within a specific level range as ultra rare drops, and the names suggest that they may be tradeskill products later on.

Confirmed WoS drops the best ones. [Elaborate Defiant Req: 58, Rec: 70]
Confirmed Nadox has the ones just under them. [Intricate Defiant Req: 48, Rec: 60]

[??? Defiant, maybe another set here? Req 28 or so, rec 40?]

Actually, it was me -- sorry, everyone.

I made the Defiant items back when I was an apprentice, and I managed to make a pretty big mistake with their mods. In my desire to concentrate the mods on a few pieces of armor (to allow for more interesting choices), I a) set the breastplates far too high in relation to the other pieces and b) didn't notice that I'd been pulling the values for the sets from the wrong tables. The intention behind the items wasn't ever to replace existing gear, but to provide an obtainable level of "acceptable" gear that could serve to get players who are behind the curve into a place where they can be successful in more modern content. While I hate having to change the values, the mods as introduced were far out of line with the rest of the game and so we've had to reduce them. While they will no longer be incredible, our goal is for them to be useful for content at their intended levels and I believe they'll still be at that level even with the mods reduced to the realm of possibility.

I didn't mean to lead anyone on or to bait and switch anyone -- I just made a mistake and looking at the numbers in a vacuum I didn't realize how far out of line they were. I apologize to anyone who made drastic decisions based on the items' initial appearance, but given the options of removing them from the game and tuning them back to normal values, we had to tune them back.

I got a few of these pieces and a weapon farming the spiders in Mesa - I believe they were req. level 40. So I'm pretty sure they drop all over.

they seem to be dropping everywhere. we got a level 59 req item (forget the name) friday night in sol 5.

Got bunches of Ornate Defiant in Bloodfields. Just can't seem to get a darn silk robe to drop lol. My baby rogue now has an extensive mana pool... lol

Infected Paw drops them generously too. Skyfire & Burning Woods on the other hand, SUCKS for drops ( was there trying to spawn that bastard bard 1.0 epic mob) *grumbles* Uh, and Fend - Take your 20's to Blightfire.. they will be in their mid 30's in 45 min with a decent DS and regen.... have em go play with those shrubs-things between PoK and HHP.
